Plot Summary:
In the 1870’s, the Captain Nathan Algren, cynical veteran of the Civil American war who will work for someone, is rented by Americans who want which profitable contracts with the Emperor of Japan are trained by the peasant’s conscripts of the first imperial constant army at the modern war that uses arms of the fire. The first priority of the office imperial Omura is to repress a rebellion of the traditionalistic Samurai - hereditary warriors - whom they remain dedicated to the sacred dynasty but reject the politician Westernizing and even refuse arms of the fire. Still when his superior force badly prepared if it stands up exaggerated soon, his panic allows to a samurai that it handles the sword to crush them. The courageous bookcase of Algren badly injured makes the leader of samurai Katsumoto dispense his life; when he once took care to the health he he learns to know and respect the old Japanese way, and participate like advisor in the failed attempt of Katsumoto of saving the tradition Bushido, but Omura orders repressive laws - he must decide now to honor his loyalty to one of the bitter sides when the conflict returns to the field of battle.
