Plot Summary:
John Marion Stryker is the extreme marine, a tough gun troop leader who is assigned in 1943 a troop by new recruits gesattelt with three ex-servicemen and an old enemy of Stryker of previous tasks in the Far East. A recruit in particlar is a spring of the friction with Stryker, Peter Conway whose Vater Stryker’s CO was in Guadalcanal, and who thought that his son was too soft and cowardly to be a marine. The troop grows more and more annoyingly in the more and more crude teaching government of Stryker and his lack of the affection for the different personal problems of the recruits, but to form his decision, them in fighter, helps to save her lives if the troop is landed in Tarawa in November, 1943 and risks Stryker his life to destroy a Japanese bunker which has killed caught marines on a block wall. The troop fight-checked now becomes more cord kind near, and the respect of Stryker with the men warms itself up because the troop is found, in the end, in the bloodiest island fight of the war, in Iwo Jima.
John Marion Stryker ist der äußerste Marinesoldat, ein zäher Gewehr-Trupp-Führer, der 1943 ein Trupp von neuen Rekruten gesattelt mit drei Veteran und einem alten Feind von Stryker von vorherigen Aufgaben im Fernen Osten zugeteilt wird. Ein Rekrut in particlar ist eine Quelle der Reibung mit Stryker, Peter Conway, dessen Vater Stryker’s CO an Guadalcanal war, und wer fand, dass sein Sohn zu weich und feig war, um ein Marinesoldat zu sein. Der Trupp wächst immer ärgerlicher an der immer brutaleren Lehrregierung von Stryker und seinem Mangel an der Zuneigung für die verschiedenen persönlichen Probleme der Rekruten, aber sein Entschluss, sie in Kämpfer zu formen, hilft, ihre Leben zu sparen, wenn der Trupp an Tarawa im November 1943 gelandet wird und Stryker sein Leben riskiert, um einen japanischen Bunker zu vernichten, der an einer Klotz-Wand gefangene Marinesoldaten geschlachtet hat. Der jetzt kampfgeprüfte Trupp wird mehr Nah-Strickart, und die Beziehung von Stryker mit den Männern erwärmt sich, weil sich der Trupp schließlich im blutigsten Inselkampf des Krieges, an Iwo Jima findet.
