The year is 1914 and Richard Hannay, the Engineer of the mines who visits Great Britain for short time before fact to be productive in Southern Africa, is shocked when one of his neighbours, colonel Scudder, enters waterspout in its rooms one night and says to him a history which the Prussian agents ‘ of sleeper ‘ plan to pre-begin the First World war by slaughtering minister of Foreign Affairs of visit. However, Scudder is slaughtered and Hannay is supervised for death by ‘ the sleepers ‘. By running away in Scotland Hannay try to clear its name and to stop the agents with the aid of Alex Mackenzie, but is not only it is followed by the leader Supt Lomas for the death of Scudder, but by the agents which is summer at the head by Appleton who succeeded in hiding in a position of high rank in the British Government.
