He is the Vice President of an independent production company in Crestline, California, called Production Magic, Inc. He is a popular guest speaker at charity events and genre media conventions. He is a Vietnam veteran and a native of Long Beach, California, having graduated from Poly Tech High School and Long Beach City College. His boyhood home in Long Beach is near the very site where many scenes of the "Phantasm" films were shot.
