Nikolai Rochenko, a Russian ballet dancer who deserted 8 years ago to the west. He is in an airplane which flies over Russia if all at once a malfunction makes the airplane land in Russia. The KGB says to everybody that his injuries are so strict that he must remain, confide for some time. But in reality they want that he returns to them, they bring him to his old flat and an American, Raymond Greenwood who deserted to itself to Russia several years ago is there laid to observe carefully on him. However, Rochenko does not have to surrender before and becomes certainly to flee. So with the help of his former lover he gets word to the Americans.
