A recently married young woman, Gwenda Reed, turns England after living on most of his life in New Zelândia. While his husband, Giles, is out of the country she buys a house for them and begins to evoke memories that do his departure to think that possibly she had lived at the home before. It is alone then, having dinner out with friends, that a chance observation provoked a frightening memory, as a small girl, looking down at the body of a woman and the murderer *quot; with mãos*quot; of paws of monkey.
